Some serious star power, including an Atlanta Dream standout and a Pittsburgh Pirates ace, rolled into Death Valley tonight to pump up No. 15 LSU ahead of their massive Saturday evening matchup against No. 9 Alabama. This wasn’t just any pre-game hype, either. Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese, Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes, and actor/filmmaker Kevin Costner himself joined head coach Lane Kiffin for his traditional walk down Victory Hill. WAFB-TV’s Jacques Doucet caught the whole thing on video, showing the world just how much this game means.
The Celebrity Gauntlet That Just Hit Death Valley
Talk about a surprise squad! When you’ve got Angel Reese, one of the most electric players in the WNBA, walking alongside Paul Skenes, that dude who’s already dominating the MLB, you know it’s a big deal. Then you throw in Shaq, a legend in every sense of the word, and Kevin Costner? That’s not just a walk, that’s a statement. It’s an undeniable show of support, a real energy jolt for the Tigers faithful as they gear up for what’s sure to be a slugfest. It tells you everything about the atmosphere around this game. These are not just casual fans showing up; they’re there because they know the magnitude of tonight.
LSU’s Playoff Hopes Hanging in the Balance
This game isn’t just for bragging rights; it’s everything for LSU’s season. Both Alabama and LSU are sitting at 6-2 right now, but the College Football Playoff selection committee has the Tide ranked No. 5, while the Tigers are down at No. 14. That’s a huge gap to close. A win over a top-10 Alabama tonight? That’s the kind of statement victory that could totally flip the script and go a long way towards convincing that selection committee that the Tigers truly deserve a shot at the final playoff bracket. Without this win, their road gets a whole lot tougher.
The stakes could not be higher for LSU tonight. With those legends watching, the Tigers have to bring their A-game. It’s a make-or-break moment for their playoff dreams, and everyone’s tuned in to see if they can get it done.
