NBA season tips off on Oct. 20, and that means one thing: your fantasy basketball plans need to be locked in. Yahoo Fantasy Basketball is officially back for 2026-27, and they’ve actually made some serious moves this year to make your draft day and season way smoother.
The Draft Experience Just Got a Massive Upgrade
Get ready, because the live draft room got a full rebuild! Seriously, it’s faster, cleaner, and way easier to follow when those picks start flying. You’re gonna spend less time scrolling around for players and more time snagging that sleeper everyone else somehow forgot about in the middle rounds. Who doesn’t love a steal?
Plus, there’s a whole new Draft Tab in the app. Everything you need for draft day is right there: your draft countdown, quick links to mock drafts, commissioner reminders, league settings, and even personalized prep. For commissioners, it’s a game-changer. It makes pre-draft tasks a breeze, so you can invite more friends and follow a guided checklist without anything slipping through the cracks. And for Yahoo Fantasy Plus and Ultra subscribers? You’ll find Instant Mock Drafts and other exclusive tools waiting to give you that extra edge.
Play Your Way, With Less Grind and More Fun
Yahoo’s making it easy to play how you want. Head-to-head points is the default for all newly created leagues, which is sweet. But if you’re a private league commissioner, you can totally change your scoring settings to whatever fits your squad. Public leagues also offer head-to-head categories, the High Score format, and classic rotisserie. So many options, right?
And check this out: High Score mode is built for fans who want to follow the action without the daily grind of setting lineups every single night. You draft 10 players, and then you only start your best six each week. The best part? Only each player’s highest-scoring game counts, so one monster night from your star player can literally carry your whole week. That’s a huge win for folks who don’t have time for constant micromanaging!
Don’t want to wait around for draft day? Public leagues let you draft instantly. You can literally have a full roster before you even finish your morning coffee. Seriously, it’s that fast.
Dan Titus’ rankings for points, 9-cat, and High Score leagues are already live, so you can scout your targets right now. Get ready for more sleepers, breakouts, and fades info coming your way before tip-off. The clock is ticking, so go sign up for Yahoo Fantasy Basketball and get ready to crush your rivals this season!
