A victory over Sporting KC tonight could propel our Seattle Sounders straight into the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference, a move that would solidify their incredible comeback this season. Our boys in green and blue have already surged from 14th place all the way into a playoff spot in the last few weeks, showing everyone in the league exactly what the Emerald City is made of.
The Ascent and the Threat from KC
But don’t think for a second that this game is a walk in the park. Sporting KC poses a considerably more formidable challenge than they did earlier this season. They’ve found their rhythm since adding Designated Player André Luiz to their squad, transforming into an offensive powerhouse. Sporting KC has gone 2-1-2 and absolutely hammered in 11 goals in their past four games alone, with André Luiz himself racking up four goals and an assist. So yeah, they’re coming in hot. To make things a little tougher for our squad, the Sounders will be a bit short-handed tonight due to international duty and a suspension. Our recent form, a strong WWDDD, tells you we’re ready to fight, but Sporting KC’s WLWLL also shows they can hit back.
History Makers and Home Field Fire
Tonight isn’t just about moving up the Western Conference standings, it’s also a chance to celebrate some incredible Sounders history. Our legendary coach Brian Schmetzer recently hit his 150th career regular-season match win, making him only the ninth coach in MLS history to reach that milestone. That’s pure class right there! And speaking of legends, our very own Jordan Morris scored his 73rd regular-season goal not long ago, making him the Sounders’ all-time leader. Can you believe it? He also has nine career goals against Sporting KC, which is the most of any active player. The guy just knows how to find the net against them, and we’re gonna need that magic tonight.
Get ready for some intense action right here at Lumen Field in Seattle. This is a massive match for our Sounders. Kickoff is tonight, October 1, at 6:30 PM PDT. You can catch all the English action on MLS Season Pass with Chris Wittyngham and Lori Lindsey, or listen to the local radio call on iHeartMedia. Let’s make some noise for our boys as they fight for that No. 7 spot!
