Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets teammates were literally on the sidelines for Colorado’s football showdown against Texas Tech this past Saturday. Talk about an unexpected cross-sport appearance! It’s early in the NBA season, but the Nuggets are already showing they’re taking their preparation seriously.
Coach Prime’s Pep Talk Lights Up Training Camp
This isn’t just a casual visit either. Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, “Coach Prime” himself, met with the Nuggets squad earlier this past week. He dropped some wisdom, giving a speech to the team as Denver officially kicked off its training camp. This is big, because it means the Nuggets aren’t just in Boulder for a change of scenery. They are holding their entire training camp at the Buffaloes’ basketball facilities. When you get a legend like Deion Sanders talking to your team, especially the reigning champs, you know they’re not messing around. It shows a commitment to team building and drawing inspiration from wherever they can get it. Jokić being there on the sidelines after that speech? You can bet he was taking it all in.
Buffs Battling It Out On Their Home Turf
While the Nuggets were soaking up the atmosphere, the Colorado Buffaloes (2-2) had their own tough matchup on their hands, facing off against No. 12 Texas Tech (4-0). The Buffs were really hoping to turn things around and avoid a third straight loss this season. Being there for that kind of high-stakes college game, feeling the energy and the fight, it’s gotta rub off on the Nuggets as they gear up for their own grind.
What’s Next for the Champs
With training camp officially underway, and with inspiration coming from a sports icon like Deion Sanders and the intensity of a live college football game, the Nuggets are clearly setting the tone for their season. They’re already locked in, working hard, and getting that championship mentality honed. The rest of the NBA better watch out.
