The Chase is driving full throttle into Sin City this Sunday, and Denny Hamlin just snagged the pole for the South Point 400. Green flag drops at 5:30 p.m. ET, and while Hamlin’s in the top spot as the favorite for this race, everyone’s buzzing about Kyle Larson, who’s been absolutely lighting it up lately.
Hamlin On Pole, But The Chase Is Tighter Than Ever
Denny Hamlin is the guy to watch in Vegas, no doubt. He’s on the pole, and let’s be real, he’s basically owned Victory Lane at Vegas the last two times the Cup Series rolled through. That’s serious history. Coming into last week’s Kansas race, Denny was only one point back from the lead in The Chase, which is wild. But after a third-place finish there, he’s now 26 points behind Kyle Larson. That’s a decent gap to make up, even for a driver who’s got this track dialed in. Can he use that pole position to grab some serious points and close the distance? He needs a big day.
Kyle Larson’s Found Another Gear
Even with Hamlin on pole, Kyle Larson is the real head-turner right now. The dude has just found a new gear, plain and simple. He’s already got two wins in this postseason, showing everyone he means business. That’s why, even though he’s second on the odds board for the Vegas race at +400, he’s actually the new favorite to win The Chase overall. Larson’s momentum is undeniable. He’s hot, he’s winning, and he’s looking like he can take it all.
So, Sunday, Oct. 4, it’s all eyes on Las Vegas. Will Denny Hamlin use his pole position and track dominance to cut into Larson’s Chase lead and take the checkered flag? Or will Kyle Larson continue his red-hot postseason run and add another win, solidifying his spot as the favorite for The Chase? It’s going to be a wild one.
