The Philadelphia Eagles are heading across the pond for their London game this Sunday, but they are leaving a massive chunk of their offense behind. Facing the 3-1 Jacksonville Jaguars, the 2-2 Eagles will be without their leading rusher, Saquon Barkley, and their top receiver, DeVonta Smith.
Offense Hit Hard Before London Kickoff
This isn’t just a couple of guys out; we are talking about a totally different look for their offense than what they rolled out on opening day last month. Barkley and Smith are both sidelined with hamstring issues. Man, hamstrings are no joke, right? Plus, Drew Kendall, who’s been the starting center for the last three games, is out with a knee issue. You can’t just plug and play on the offensive line, especially against a solid team like the Jags.
More Key Pieces Missing
The hits keep coming for Philly. Wideout Hollywood Brown is also out, dealing with an ankle problem. Losing another receiver on top of Smith means their passing game is going to be tested big time. On defense, safety Marcus Epps can’t go either, sidelined by a groin injury. And get this: edge rusher Jonathan Greenard is even questionable with an ankle issue. That’s a lot of talent on the sidelines.
The Eagles are 2-2 and heading into this international matchup against the 3-1 Jaguars severely short-handed. It’s going to be a true test of their depth and grit on Sunday. Can they pull off a win with so many key players out? We are about to find out.
