Cleveland locked up the final spot in the League Championship Series bracket on Saturday, joining the Rays, Dodgers, and Brewers, but they’re walking into a pitching nightmare. After a brutal, extended ALDS grind, their staff is absolutely overworked. That’s a huge problem when you’re about to face off against the Rays’ Drew Rasmussen in Game 1 on Monday.
NLCS: Dodgers Unleash Skubal, Brewers Counter with Misiorowski
Before the ALCS even gets going, the National League Championship Series kicks off today! It’s the Dodgers against the Brewers in Game 1. Los Angeles is throwing out their trade deadline acquisition, Tarik Skubal, who’s ready to make his mark. Milwaukee isn’t backing down, though. They’re sending their flamethrowing ace, Jacob Misiorowski, to the mound. This series is going to be a battle from the jump. The Dodgers earned their spot by taking down the Braves in the previous round, while the Brewers powered past the Padres.
ALCS Preview: Rays vs. Guardians, With Cleveland On Fumes
Over in the American League, Tampa Bay and Cleveland get their series started on Monday. The Rays are set with Drew Rasmussen on the bump, but Cleveland’s pitching situation is a total question mark. They’re trying to figure out who’s even available after that tough, long ALDS really gassed their staff. The Guardians barely escaped the White Sox to get here, while the Rays made quick work of the Yankees. It’s going to be interesting to see how Cleveland manages their arms when they’re already running on fumes.
Looking back, a bunch of teams didn’t even make it past the best-of-three Wild Card Series. The Astros, Red Sox, Cubs, and Phillies were all sent packing last week. The Braves won Game 1 against the Phillies 5-3, but Philly fought back in Game 2 with a 4-3 win. The White Sox beat the Astros 6-3 in their Game 1, the Yankees shut out the Red Sox 9-0 in theirs, and the Padres demolished the Cubs 8-0 in their Wild Card opener. Now, we’re down to the final four.
