Milwaukee just snagged Game 1 against Los Angeles, a tight 2-1 battle that puts the Brewers up 1-0 in the best-of-seven NLCS. This is October baseball, folks, and every single pitch counts. The Dodgers are already staring down an early deficit and you know they are desperate to even things up.
Dodgers Need to Respond, Yamamoto Steps Up
This isn’t some regular season stroll, this is the NLCS, and Milwaukee has the early momentum. The Dodgers absolutely have to respond, and quick. All eyes are on Game 2, and for Los Angeles, it’s Yamamoto hitting the mound. Remember his Division Series outing against Atlanta on October 6? Seven full innings, 98 pitches, only four hits, one earned run, a ridiculous ten strikeouts, and just one walk. Opponents hit a measly .160 against him in that start. His postseason ERA stands at a sparkling 1.29. This dude was 14-9 with a 2.53 ERA and 182 strikeouts in 185 innings across 28 regular season starts, rocking a 0.87 WHIP. The Brewers are feeling good after that 2-1 Game 1 win, but Yamamoto is coming out to play.
Rays and Guardians Fight for World Series Shot
Meanwhile, over in the ALCS, it’s a completely different vibe, but the stakes are just as high. The Rays and Guardians are scrapping it out for that World Series ticket, and every single game from here on out is pure gold. Keep your eyes locked on Junior Caminero for the Tampa Bay Rays as they open their series against Cleveland. This kid is no joke. He blasted 42 homers, drove in 101 runs, hit .276 with an .884 OPS over 616 at-bats during the regular season. And get this: in the ALDS against the Yankees, where Tampa Bay pulled off a clean three-game sweep to advance, Caminero went 3-for-10 with two runs, a double, and two walks. The Guardians better be ready for that kind of heat in ALCS Game 1.
