Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is already hyping up newly acquired wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., telling Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston that he’s “always thought he was special” after the team landed Harrison in a recent trade with the Arizona Cardinals. Stroud’s praise comes just days after the blockbuster move, hinting at big things to come for the Texans’ offense.
Stroud Pulls Back the Curtain on Harrison’s Game
It’s no secret Stroud and Harrison Jr. have chemistry, going all the way back to their Ohio State days from 2021-22. Stroud knows exactly what he’s getting, and he wasn’t shy about breaking down Harrison’s game for KPRC 2 Houston on Wednesday. “His work ethic, it’s the same thing now,” Stroud explained, signaling that Harrison’s dedication hasn’t skipped a beat. He also detailed Harrison’s playstyle, calling him a receiver who “runs great routes, very quarterback friendly.” For a “pocket quarterback who likes to throw it to him on time,” as Stroud described himself, that’s exactly when Harrison is “at his best.” Sounds like a perfect fit, right?
A New Look For the Texans’ Receiving Corps
The question on everyone’s mind is how Harrison Jr. slots into the Texans’ already talented receiving group that includes Nico Collins, Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, and Jaylin Noel. Stroud’s got a clear answer, though, stating Harrison “will fit in fine” and “He’ll be great for us.” The trade itself went down on Sunday, seeing Houston add Harrison and a 2027 sixth-round draft pick from Arizona. In return, the Cardinals received a 2027 second-round pick and a seventh-round pick.
With Stroud already buzzing about Harrison’s work ethic and on field presence, it’s clear the Texans are looking to take things up a notch this season. This Ohio State reunion could be exactly what they need to spark their offense.
