Bayern Munich absolutely smashed RB Leipzig 6-1 on Saturday, climbing straight to the top of the Bundesliga table. That’s a statement win if I’ve ever seen one, with Luis Díaz bagging a ridiculous three goals at the Allianz Arena.
The Rout Is On
It all kicked off pretty quick for Bayern. Díaz got things going in the 12th minute, latching onto a brilliant ball from Kimmich and just finishing it in style to make it 1-0. He wasn’t done there, though. Díaz then turned around and set up Pavlovic, who doubled the lead right in the box. Before the half was even out, Harry Kane got in on the assist action himself, feeding Olise to push the score to a dominant 3-0. Think that’s enough? Nope. Bayern kept the pressure on in the second half, turning a strong lead into a full-blown rout. Díaz grabbed two more goals, sealing his hat-trick, and Harry Kane got on the scoresheet himself. Leipzig did manage a fine consolation goal from Maksimovic in stoppage time, but by then, the damage was more than done.
Top Spot and Big Tests Ahead
This monster win means Bayern is now sitting pretty at the top with 14 points. They’ve nudged ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who also have 14 points but Bayern’s goal difference is just superior. They won’t be able to just chill out though. Freiburg, who are right behind with 13 points, are playing Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday. Bayern will need Freiburg to slip up there if they want to hold onto that number one spot for sure. The schedule isn’t letting up either. First up, Bayern is diving headfirst into a Champions League clash, hosting Arsenal on Wednesday at 4 p.m. That’s a blockbuster match coming right up. Then, the week after, Bayern will go head-to-head with Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday the 25th at 1:30 p.m.
Talk about making a statement with six goals and taking the league lead! Bayern’s form right now is looking absolutely terrifying. With Arsenal in the Champions League and a crucial Bundesliga showdown with Freiburg both on the horizon, these next few games are going to tell us a lot about just how dominant this Bayern squad can be. Can they maintain this red-hot form and keep their grip on the top of the table? You gotta watch.
