The Browns are 4-2, baby! They just knocked off their division rival Baltimore Ravens 13-10 on October 18, and get this, they’re sitting pretty at first in the AFC North right now on tie-breakers. Carson Schwesinger even had a big tackle on Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers in that game. This team is actually making noise, and honestly, they’re the surprise story in the NFL at this moment.
Ohio’s “Most Popular Team”… Kinda?
So, you’d think with the Browns being the “surprise story” and leading the toughest division in football, Ohio would be all-in, right? Well, according to a USA TODAY story, based on Google Trends, the Browns are officially the most popular team in the state. Sounds good on paper, but if you’ve been paying attention to Ohio football over the last five seasons, it’s way more complicated than that. Fandom in the Buckeye State is totally split. The Browns own Northeast Ohio, no shocker there, dominating the Cleveland-Akron-Canton areas. But step outside that bubble, and things get wild. Head east, near Youngstown and the Steubenville-Wheeling W. Va. regions, and suddenly the Pittsburgh Steelers are pulling more interest. And if you swing over to the Cincinnati-Dayton area or other western spots like Lima, it’s all about the Bengals. Seriously, it’s like a constant tug-of-war for fan loyalty.
The AFC North Is A Total BRAWL Right Now
Look, the Browns are popular in their home turf despite not having a ton of consistent success over the last five seasons. But with their current run, they’ve got a real shot to reclaim some of that glory and unite their fan base. The AFC North is an absolute slugfest right now. The Browns, Steelers, and Ravens are all locked in at 4-2. The Bengals, who were on a bye last weekend, are right there at 3-2. It’s a total dogfight! But right now, the Browns are leading the charge based on tie-breakers, and that’s something nobody saw coming.
Can they keep this momentum going and finally get Ohio to rally behind them? This AFC North race is a total slugfest, and every game is going to feel like a playoff battle. Buckle up, Browns fans, this ride is just getting started.
