Jason Kelce, the legendary former NFL center who hung up his cleats in 2024, is absolutely losing his mind right now, and not for his old team. Nah, he’s full-on hyped for the Cleveland Browns after their 4-2 start to the NFL season. This man is buzzing.
The Muppet-Like Hype Was Unstoppable
If you caught “Monday Night Countdown” pregame show, you saw it unfold. Kelce basically morphed into the ultimate Cleveland homer. The Browns, sitting pretty at 4-2, had him moving in what the source described as “Muppet-like fashion,” just letting all the excitement out. He didn’t hold back, declaring, “The Cleveland Browns are the top of the AFC North. That’s right.” He was just so fired up, shouting, “We would have never thought it. I’m from Cleveland and we would have never thought it. We’ve been waiting for this moment fellas, it’s finally here.” You could feel that energy right through the screen.
From Philly “We” to Cleveland Pride
It’s pretty wild to see, especially since Kelce has caught flak for using “we” in the broadcast booth when talking about his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles. But for his hometown Browns? That “we” was absolutely on. Growing up in Cleveland Heights and playing for the Heights High Tigers, Kelce clearly gets the struggle, the pain, and that deep “It’s Cleveland against the world” mantra. He just tossed any analyst decorum aside and went pure fan. He’s been an analyst on the “Monday Night Football” pregame show since his retirement, and while you might think it was all just pure, unbridled emotion, the article confirms there was plenty of analysis in his rant, even if it was buried under all that hype. It’s early in the season, but Kelce’s excitement for what the Browns are building is undeniable.
