The Golden State Warriors are kicking off their 2026-27 NBA season tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers, but the biggest news isn’t just who’s playing: reports are already flying that the Warriors are shopping Kristaps Porziņģis, even as he sits out the opener due to injury. This is wild, right?
Warriors Hit Hard By Injuries, Shake Up The Roster Early
This opening night clash at Crypto.com Arena was already going to be a battle, but Golden State is walking in limping hard. Stephen Curry is set to play, which is a relief, but they’re without Jimmy Butler, Porziņģis, Brandin Podziemski, and Moses Moody. That’s a huge chunk of their lineup, especially with a guy like Porziņģis reportedly on the trade block *before* the first game even tips off. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg is making his official debut tonight, which is cool for him, but what a situation to step into. You gotta wonder how that locker room feels right now, knowing a key guy is potentially out and on the move.
A New Look Lakers Squad Without LeBron
Across the court, the Los Angeles Lakers are starting a brand new chapter. This is their first season without LeBron James on the roster since way back in 2017-18. It’s Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves running the show now, a duo that definitely has the talent to deliver. Plus, rookie Walker Kessler is making his official debut too. This team is clearly ready to show they can be a force in the Western Conference on their own terms. It’s a fresh start, and you know they’re looking to make a statement tonight.
This isn’t just any regular season game, folks, it’s the opener for two of the Western Conference’s absolute flagship franchises. With all these storylines flying around, from trade rumors to new eras kicking off, tonight’s game at 7 p.m. PST is going to set the tone. Get ready for some fireworks.
