The defending Super Bowl champions looked absolutely lost on Sunday night, as our Seahawks defense and star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba completely shut down the Kansas City Chiefs, securing a dominant 20-3 victory right here at Lumen Field. This wasn’t just a win, 12s, it was a statement, holding the Chiefs to one of the lowest-scoring outputs of the entire Mahomes era.
Our Defense Is UNREAL Right Now
Look, the numbers don’t lie. Our defense was on fire from the opening whistle. The Chiefs could barely move the ball all night, managing just 11 first downs and a measly 213 total yards. They were an abysmal 3-for-11 on third down, consistently getting stonewalled when it mattered most. And remember our former running back, Kenneth Walker III? He had been tearing it up all year, averaging 6.3 yards per carry over Kansas City’s first five games. But our D bottled him up completely, holding him to just 36 yards on 14 carries for a paltry 2.6 yards per pop. What a lockdown performance from the boys in green and blue!
Mahomes Looked Completely Lost in the Emerald City
We all know Patrick Mahomes. We know what he can do. But against our Seahawks? He looked totally out of sync. He finished the game 19-of-33 for just 165 yards, throwing an interception and ending with a 58.3 passer rating. To put that in perspective, Mahomes has only finished with a worse passer rating in *four other regular-season starts* in his entire career. That’s how good our defense was. And get this: the NBC broadcast pointed out it was the *first time ever* the Chiefs failed to even reach the red zone in a Mahomes start, including the postseason. First time! Let that sink in.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba Continues to Shine
While the defense was busy making history, our own Jaxon Smith-Njigba was absolutely a star out there on the field. The source doesn’t dive into his specific stats from the night, but his impact was undeniable as he shone bright alongside that suffocating defensive effort. This team is finding its rhythm, and having JSN as a key playmaker only adds to the excitement.
This win, especially against the defending Super Bowl champions, sends a clear message across the league. Our Seahawks are for real. The defensive intensity is off the charts, and we’re just getting started. Get ready, 12s, it’s going to be an incredible season!
