The Golden State Valkyries are WNBA champions, taking down the Atlanta Dream 68-63 in a Game 7 thriller on October 31. This isn’t just a win, folks, it’s their first title, unbelievably, in just their second season as a franchise.
Unforgettable Game 7 Victory
It all came down to Game 7, and the Valkyries delivered, clinching the championship with a tight 68-63 victory over the Atlanta Dream. The win came on Halloween, making for an unforgettable end to their incredible run. Gabby Williams, a key player in their success, summed up the monumental achievement perfectly. “That was the best night of my life,” she said, and honestly, you can feel that energy just reading it. Imagine achieving that kind of glory, that quickly. It’s truly something special.
Championship Celebration at Chase Center
Just 24 hours after their historic victory, the Valkyries were back at the Chase Center to be honored during a timeout at a Golden State Warriors versus Los Angeles Clippers game on November 1. The scene must have been electric: the team brought out that shiny championship trophy, stood proudly at midcourt, soaking in the recognition. They even tossed t-shirts to the fans, sharing a piece of their celebration with the crowd that clearly rode every wave of this phenomenal second season with them.
What a ride for the Valkyries, going from expansion team to champions in such a short amount of time. It sets a new bar, doesn’t it? What an amazing story.
