Eric Collins, the legendary voice of the Hornets for over a decade, jumped into the NFL broadcast booth for his second game ever in Week 5, delivering an absolutely electric call on Ja’Marr Chase’s spectacular deep touchdown grab during the Bengals-Dolphins matchup. Sports fans have grown used to Collins’ pure emotion and unmatched enthusiasm for NBA highlights from guys like LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, or Brandon Miller, but now the NFL is getting a taste of what he brings to the mic.
Collins Brings the Energy to the NFL
This dude’s broadcasting career has seriously blown up. After joining the NBA on Prime Video crew before the 2025-26 season, he started picking up NFL assignments this year. Collins made his NFL debut just last week in Week 4, calling Dolphins vs. Panthers for Fox. Fast forward to Week 5, and he was back for Bengals vs. Dolphins, proving that his unique style isn’t just for the hardwood. It’s clear he’s bringing that same incredible energy that made him a fan favorite in the NBA to the gridiron, and honestly, we’re here for it.
Ja’Marr Chase Goes Deep, Collins Goes Wild
The moment called for it in the third quarter of the Bengals-Dolphins game, and Collins delivered big time. With the Bengals already up by 11, quarterback Burrow found Chase deep in the end zone. Chase made an insane leap and turn to catch the pass for a 45-yard touchdown that extended the lead even further. Collins’ call? Pure gold. “Oh! Ja’Marr Chase, you’re kidding!” he yelled, “Good golly! A 45-yard touchdown!” It’s exactly the kind of unbridled excitement you want when a play like that happens. The Bengals went on to grab a 31-24 win, moving to 3-2 on the season and looking like they’re really clicking offensively.
That call immediately sparked a ton of positive reactions from fans online. People were absolutely loving the “Eric Collins + Ja’Marr Chase Euphoria” and screaming for “ERIC COLLINS IN THE BOOTH ALL DAY EVERY DAY.” It’s undeniable Collins is making waves and fans are totally digging his move to NFL action.
What’s next for Collins? His NBA season with the Hornets kicks off real soon, with their opener against the Nets on October 21. For the Bengals, that 3-2 record puts them in a good spot as the season keeps rolling, and you gotta wonder if we’ll hear Collins on the mic for more big NFL plays in the future.
