Alright, you college football maniacs, listen up! Florida football just took its second straight L last week. But get this, they’ve got a shot to turn things around when they roll into Darrell K Royal,Texas Memorial Stadium to face No. 6 Texas. Here’s the kicker, though: both these teams are coming off losses. What a wild setup for Week 7!
Coach Sumrall’s Frustration Boils Over While Texas Gets Shocked
The Gators, now sitting at a 4-2 record overall and 2-2 in the SEC, got absolutely blasted by South Carolina, going down 38-19. You think that sits well with anyone? Coach Jon Sumrall sure ain’t happy, telling everyone, “We have to go back to work and improve. I’m frustrated with every part of what we did today. It starts with me. I’ve got to do a better job of getting this team ready to play to its best.” He even added, “Today’s not anywhere near where we need to perform. So many things to clean up. Just not a good football performance by us.” Man, that’s some brutal honesty right there. On the flip side, No. 6 Texas, who’s been cruising at 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the SEC, just got straight-up upset by rival Oklahoma, losing 27-24. So yeah, both these squads are licking some serious wounds.
Who’s Stepping Up When It Matters Most?
For Florida, junior running back Jadan Baugh is still doing work. He put up 59 rushing yards and punched in a touchdown against South Carolina. This season, Baugh’s been a beast, racking up 672 rushing yards and a dozen touchdowns. Can he keep that going against a fired-up Texas defense? On the Longhorns’ side, quarterback Arch Manning has been slinging it, throwing for 10 touchdowns and 1,122 yards, but he’s also tossed five interceptions. This game could come down to who makes fewer mistakes under pressure.
You can catch all this drama unfold live on ABC. If you’re looking to stream it, ESPN+ and FUBO have got you covered. Joe Tessitore and Jesse Palmer will be on the call from the booth. It all kicks off this Saturday, October 17, at 12 p.m. ET. With both teams desperate for a win after dropping their last games, expect fireworks. This ain’t just another game, folks; this is about reclaiming momentum and proving who’s still in the fight.
