Dublin Jerome locked up their second consecutive Division I boys golf state championship, absolutely crushing the field by a massive 25 shots at NCR Country Club’s South Course on October 13. But if you think that’s the only unbelievable part, wait until you hear about brothers Brady and Blaise Barnum, who pulled off a 1-2 individual finish they’d literally only ever “envisioned.”
The Barnum Brothers’ ‘Reverse’ Dream Becomes Reality
Brady Barnum, a senior committed to Georgia, snagged his second individual title, shooting a 73 on the day for a two-day total of 139. He repeated as the individual champion, a massive feat on its own! But right on his heels, his sophomore brother, Blaise, finished second with a 141 total. Last year, Blaise tied for 34th, a full 20 shots behind Brady. He even joked, “We’ve talked about it every now and then, but usually I’m (No.) 1 and he’s 2.” This year, the dream came true, just “in reverse” from Blaise’s perspective. What a comeback story for the younger Barnum!
Dublin Jerome’s Dominance Is Undeniable
The Barnum brothers’ stellar play, under coach Brad Sparling, propelled the Celtics to their second straight team title. The 25-shot victory is no joke, showing just how dominant Dublin Jerome was on the course. Evan Menges was also seen holding that Division I state championship trophy, celebrating a truly incredible team performance that cemented their place at the top of high school golf.
This kind of brotherly competition and team triumph is what makes sports so special. What an unbelievable achievement for the Celtics, led by a pair of brothers who made their personal dream a reality, and brought home another title for their squad!
