This isn’t just another Friday night, folks. The 2026 Florida high school football regular season is basically wrapping up, and with FHSAA playoff brackets dropping November 6, every snap matters. Seriously, we’re talking about teams playing for state championship spots at Pitbull Stadium in Miami, and the tension is through the roof.
The Pressure Cooker Matchups
You want high stakes? How about Cardinal Newman, clinging to an Open Division playoff spot, going up against undefeated Carrollwood Day? This ain’t their first rodeo either, Carrollwood Day got knocked out by Newman in the 2025 Class 1A state semifinal. You know they’re hungry for payback tonight, right? And talk about revenge, Lakeland is hosting The First Academy, desperate to erase the memory of last year’s overtime loss. Ouch. Then you’ve got St. Augustine and Buchholz, both playing for flawless, perfect seasons against Mandarin and Bolles, respectively. That’s gotta be an insane amount of pressure.
More Rivalries And Regional Showdowns
And it doesn’t stop there! Miami Central is duking it out with Carol City. Plus, the Muck Bowl between Pahokee and Glades Central? You know that’s going to be absolute fireworks. Yeah, most of the regular season wraps up tonight, but don’t sleep on Saturday’s game either: IMG Academy is hosting The Hun School all the way from New Jersey. The USA TODAY Network – Florida is all over these games, from Sarasota to Pensacola, so you know the coverage is deep.
So yeah, the regular season is pretty much in the books, but the drama is just hitting its stride. Saturday’s game with IMG Academy still on the slate is a must-watch, and then it’s full steam ahead to November 6 when those FHSAA playoff brackets drop. Who’s gonna make it to Pitbull Stadium? Tonight’s results are gonna tell us everything.
