LeBron James is reportedly set to hit the court as a Philadelphia 76er for the very first time during Thursday’s preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets. This isn’t just a regular preseason run-out, either. We’re talking about a seismic shift in the league, and tonight, we get our first real glimpse.
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, dropping the news on NBA Today, confirmed that the plan is for LeBron to make his preseason debut with the Sixers tonight. And get this: Philly isn’t holding anything back. They’re reportedly trotting out their entire starting lineup, which means we’re going to see LeBron running alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, and VJ Edgecombe right from the jump. That’s a lineup packed with talent, and it’s going to be wild to see how they gel on the court.
McMenamin even threw in a little gem, noting it’s “actually a shorter commute to play a road game than a home practice for LeBron.” That’s a classic LeBron move, always finding the most efficient path, and honestly, you gotta respect it. This isn’t just a new city for the King, it’s a whole new chapter, and how this starting five clicks is going to be the biggest story in the league for the next few weeks.
Tonight is the kickoff. This isn’t just about a preseason win or loss; it’s about setting the tone for what could be an absolutely insane season for the 76ers. Everyone is going to be watching to see those first passes, those first defensive rotations, and how this superstar squad looks together. Get ready, because the real show starts now.
