The HBL PSL 12 officially kicks off on Thursday, March 18, 2027, with the tournament set to run for over six weeks, all the way until May 2, 2027. We just got the word, and you know what that means: it’s time to mark your calendars because this thing is going to be absolutely wild!
The League Is Locked In: Eight Franchises Ready to Roll
This isn’t some small-time operation, folks. All eight franchises from the 2026 season are coming back for PSL 12, which is huge! Remember how the league expanded its scope in 2026, bringing in the Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz? Yeah, those guys are returning too, making for a packed competition. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) locked in these dates after holding meetings with all the franchise owners at the PSL Governing Council in London back on September 1. They’ve already confirmed that preparations for the new season are going to be full-throttle, including direct signings, player retentions, the trade window, and, of course, the player auction. Get ready for some big moves before the first ball is even bowled!
Zalmi Are Back, And The IPL Clash Is Real
Speaking of big, let’s not forget who’s walking into PSL 12 with the biggest target on their back: Peshawar Zalmi. They’re the defending champions, having snagged the PSL 11 title in 2026! You remember that final, right? Zalmi went off, beating the Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets in a nail-biter at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on May 3, 2026. That was also the first time the PSL went with a player auction instead of the old draft method, which totally changed the game! Now, here’s the kicker, and it’s a big one: the confirmed window for PSL 2027 means this event is going to clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) again. What a showdown for cricket fans, right? Talk about having to pick your battles!
While we’ve got the start and end dates locked down, the PCB is still holding back on the full fixture schedule, specific venues, and all the ticketing details. So, keep your eyes peeled for those announcements. We’ll be counting down the days until March 18, 2027!
