No. 10 Ole Miss Is In The CFP Race, But A No. 2 Georgia Showdown Could Blow It All Up

Ole Miss football is officially in the College Football Playoff picture, snagging the No. 10 spot in the first rankings released this week. The Rebels, rocking a 6-2 record (4-2 SEC), got the call on ESPN this past Tuesday, November 3rd, putting them squarely in the mix for college football’s biggest prize.

The Playoff Landscape Just Got Wild

So, how’s this 12-team CFP format even work? It’s wild, man. You got 12 spots total, with five automatically reserved. Four go to the highest-ranked conference champs, and then a fifth is locked for the highest-ranked non-Power 4 squad. The other seven spots? Those are at-large bids. Here’s where it gets crazy: if that non-Power 4 team isn’t even in the top 12 of the CFP poll, then whoever *is* at No. 12 gets the boot. This week, we saw No. 25 Boise State do exactly that, kicking No. 12 Ohio State right out of the bracket. Talk about a brutal way to start the playoff race! Interestingly, Ole Miss is also sitting at No. 12 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, a little different from their CFP spot.

No. 2 Georgia Is Coming to Town

But hold up, all these rankings are about to get a serious jolt. The Rebels aren’t just chilling on their No. 10 CFP spot. This Saturday, November 7th, at 6:30 p.m. on ABC, No. 12 Ole Miss (6-2, 4-2 SEC) is hosting the absolute juggernaut that is No. 2 Georgia (7-1, 5-1) right there at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. This isn’t just any game; the source itself says this matchup *will certainly shake up the rankings*. You know quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and Head Coach Pete Golding are prepping like crazy for this one, alongside running back Makhi Frazier. This isn’t just a game; it’s a statement, a defining moment for this team’s playoff aspirations.

So yeah, Ole Miss is in the conversation, but their path just got straight-up brutal. This clash against No. 2 Georgia isn’t just about moving up; it’s about proving they belong in that top tier. Can they stand strong? We’re all watching this Saturday to see if the Rebels can make the kind of noise that screams “Playoff Contender!”
