Paris Saint-Germain just scooped up the Men’s Club of the Year award for the second year running at the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday. Seriously, back-to-back? That’s just wild.
Back-to-Back Champs, And Don’t Forget It
This wasn’t just some participation trophy either. This award, handed out in London at the Palladium Theatre during the 70th anniversary bash for Stanley Matthews’ inaugural win, came because Paris Saint-Germain are flat out dominating. They snagged their second consecutive UEFA Champions League title, which is insane. You know the squad was stretched thin, too, because Luis Enrique’s crew was busy actually playing a game at the same time. But even with all that going on, Ousmane Dembélé, the 2024-2025 Men’s Ballon d’Or winner himself, jetted off to London. Why? To pick up the hardware for his side, even though he’s nursing a thigh strain he picked up last week against FC Barcelona in the UCL. Talk about dedication!
Dembélé’s Mic Drop Moment
Dembélé, a France international striker, was all class when he took the stage, saying, “On behalf of PSG, thank you.” But then he dropped the real talk: “We have created an incredible group and club, we fight for each other and we try to bring joy to our fans, to neutrals and to our haters.” Oh, he went there! You gotta love that confidence. And he’s not wrong, this team is absolutely humming. They just clawed their way back to the top of the Ligue 1 standings, taking down Lyon with goals from Senny Mayulu and Mika Godts. This squad doesn’t just win, they make a statement.
So yeah, PSG is not just winning, they’re *owning* it. With a second straight UCL title and sitting pretty atop Ligue 1, fueled by that fighting spirit Dembélé mentioned, you know they are coming for everything this season.
