Get ready for some absolutely wild playoff football, because six Greater Lansing teams are heading into the Michigan high school playoffs with perfect records on the line this weekend. You got Grand Ledge, Portland, Goodrich, Decatur, Pewamo-Westphalia, and Portland St. Patrick, all sitting at the top, looking to keep that zero in the loss column. The opening round is set to be pure fire, with Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, packed with crucial matchups.
Friday Night Lights: Undefeated Dreams and Division Battles
Friday is stacked with incredible games, kicking off at 7 p.m. Grand Ledge (9-0) is putting their perfect season on the line in Division 1, hosting Rockford (5-4). Man, that’s gonna be a showdown. Down in Division 3, Mason (8-1) is battling Dexter (4-6), while DeWitt (7-2) goes up against Lowell (6-3) at 7:30 p.m. Remember DeWitt’s Joseph Bobeda making that big run against Grand Ledge back on October 16? He’s gotta bring that same energy. Division 4 also has two monster games: Portland (9-0), another undefeated squad, takes on Paw Paw (8-1), and then Goodrich (9-0) tries to maintain their perfect run against Williamston (5-4). This is what playoff football is all about, right? Every play counts, every yard matters.
Saturday Showdowns and 8-Man Intensity
The action doesn’t slow down. Division 5 sees Berrien Springs (8-1) at Lakewood (8-1), while Corunna (4-5) faces Imlay City (7-2). Then in Division 7, we’ve got Pewamo-Westphalia (8-0), yes, another undefeated team, squaring off with Cass City (6-3). And talk about do-or-die, this weekend even brings some incredible 8-man football to the table. Blanchard Montabella (8-1) goes against Dansville (7-2) on Friday night. Then Saturday, October 31, kicks off with Saranac (7-2) at Constantine (8-1) in Division 7 at 1 p.m., and later, Onekama (6-3) battles Portland St. Patrick (9-0), yet another undefeated team, in an 8-man Division 2 thriller.
These games are everything. For those undefeated teams, it’s about cementing their legacy. For the others, it’s about pulling off an upset and proving everyone wrong. This weekend is gonna be absolutely nuts, with every snap deciding who moves on and who goes home. Get ready for some incredible high school playoff action!
