Nikola Jokic proved he’s already game-ready for the regular season, throwing down a ridiculous, otherworldly, and absolutely insane behind-the-back pass in the Nuggets’ preseason opener this past Sunday against the Jazz. Seriously, if you blinked, you missed a historic moment that’s got everyone buzzing. It might have been preseason, but the three-time MVP didn’t hold back, showcasing the kind of passing ability that makes him one of a kind.
Unreal Vision and a Record on Deck
Jokic hit Cameron Johnson with a no-look, behind-the-back pass that sailed across the court to set up a corner 3-pointer. The replay showed it all: behind the baseline, behind three defenders. How do you even *see* that? It was pure magic. Even Kevin O’Connor from the NBA called it “absolutely insane” on X, and he wasn’t wrong. This kind of play is exactly why Jokic is preparing to become the NBA’s all-time triple-doubles leader. The man just sees the court differently than anyone else out there.
Only 14 Minutes, But What a Statement
Despite the Nuggets falling 109-97 to the Jazz, Jokic only played 14 minutes. He put up 3 points, but the real story was his 7 assists in that limited time. Seven assists! That’s just wild for a preseason appearance, right? He’s currently sixth among active players in assists, with the five guys ahead of him having been in the league longer. Here’s the kicker: Jokic is now within just 11 assists of tying Russell Westbrook for the all-time record. This pass, and his overall game-ready performance, tells you he’s absolutely locked in to break that record in the months ahead, assuming he stays on the court.
Get ready, folks. With plays like that in preseason, Jokic is clearly not messing around. We’re all gonna be watching every game waiting for him to snag that all-time assists record. It’s coming, and it’s gonna be a show!
