Michigan State locked down their second 4-star commitment for the 2027 class this month, grabbing center Jaydn Jenkins on Wednesday night. This is a massive pickup for the Spartans, continuing a red-hot recruiting streak for Coach Izzo.
Jaydn Jenkins Is a Problem for Opponents
Jenkins is an absolute beast in the paint, standing at 6-foot-10 and weighing in at 220 pounds. But the real game-changer? He’s got a ridiculous 7-foot-4 wingspan. Think about that kind of length trying to block your shot or snag a rebound. He’s ranked as 247Sports’ No. 8 center and the No. 60 player overall by the composite rankings. Jenkins chose MSU over some serious contenders too, turning down schools like Ohio State, Xavier, Pitt, and NC State. That’s a huge win for the Spartans, showing they can pull top talent even when other big names are in the mix.
Izzo’s Recruiting Engine Is Rolling
This isn’t just a one-off hit for Tom Izzo; it feels like he’s truly figured out how to recruit in this wild new era of college sports. He’s been putting together several strong classes in a row, and the 2027 group is already looking like a continuation of that trend. Jenkins is the second high-profile recruit to commit to the Spartans this month, with Antonio Pemberton also joining the class in September. When you’re stacking up multiple 4-star talents this early, it sends a clear message about the program’s direction.
With two high-profile 4-star talents already locked in for 2027, including a defensive nightmare like Jenkins, Michigan State’s future is looking incredibly bright. Keep an eye on East Lansing, because Izzo is building something special there, and the rest of the Big Ten better be ready.
