Dillon Brooks just dropped a bombshell, saying Kevin Durant left a “stench” in the Phoenix locker room. Yep, the Suns wing went straight to Instagram story on Saturday to thank Suns governor Mat Ishbia for “cleaning up that stench in the locker room before I came #culture.” Talk about not holding back.
The Social Media Feud That Sparked It All
This fiery comment came after Durant and Ishbia had their own little social media back and forth earlier on Saturday. Durant wasn’t happy about Ishbia describing the 2023 trade for the 16-time All-Star as part of a failed strategy of “throwing money at the problem.” It definitely looked like KD took that personally, leading to some public jabs between the two.
From KD’s Exit to Brooks’ Arrival
Durant was only with Phoenix for a little over two seasons, from 2023-25, before he was shipped off to the Houston Rockets. Want to guess who was part of the package the Suns got back in that deal? You got it: Dillon Brooks. So, Brooks is literally the guy who arrived as a direct result of Durant leaving, and he’s not shy about his feelings on the “culture” he’s stepping into. This isn’t just a random shot, it’s a direct clap-back wrapped in a thank you note to the owner. It makes you wonder what was really going on behind the scenes.
This whole exchange shines a harsh light on the internal dynamics, or lack thereof, during Durant’s time in Phoenix. Brooks is making it clear where he stands, and with Ishbia seemingly on his side, this new “culture” in Phoenix is starting off with a very public statement.
